Using the HOT Tasking Manager, youth contributors will engage in simple remote mapping tasks that strengthen base map data critical for climate risk analysis. These tasks will focus on digitizing buildings 🏠 and road networks 🛣️ across key urban and peri-urban areas in Botswana, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, South Africa, and Eswatini (BNLSE).

Priority mapping projects will target locations experiencing the impacts of climate change 🌍 including flooding 🌊, drought ☀️, and wetland encroachment 🌱 ensuring that the resulting geospatial data supports timely, evidence-based decision-making for communities living in areas vulnerable to disasters.

Youth who have completed training courses will actively contribute to these mapping efforts, applying their skills in real-world contexts while receiving ongoing technical support and mentorship from HOT trainers 👩🏽‍🏫👨🏿‍🏫.

Advanced participants will engage in peer review and validation tasks ✔️, strengthening data quality while further developing their technical expertise and contributing to a collaborative, high-quality open data ecosystem 🤝.

This activity is developed mainly for the Youth  for the Youth Force Project for the youth in Botswana, Zimbabwe, Lesotho and Eswatini but will be open after the project closeout for use by other youth.
