**UNICEF is hiring a skilled and detail-oriented Consultant to support the Nutrition Section in Nigeria** with high-quality writing, editing, and proofreading services to amplify child rights advocacy, donor reporting, and programme visibility. This role is essential in helping to tell the story of nutrition and child survival in Nigeria  where nearly 20 million children are stunted, 10 million wasted, and 15 million anaemic. Your words will make a difference, helping UNICEF raise awareness, mobilize resources, and drive impact for every child.

**Key Responsibilities:**

**Writing & Storytelling**

* Craft compelling and data-driven proposals, donor reports, and human-interest stories.
* Develop knowledge products, factsheets, advocacy materials, and digital content aligned with UNICEF’s brand and communication standards.
* Support nutrition advocacy by simplifying technical content into digestible messages for diverse audiences.

**📚 Editing & Copy-Editing**

* Edit documents for clarity, consistency, and alignment with UNICEF’s editorial style.
* Ensure proper grammar, punctuation, and structure across reports, publications, and digital products.
* Maintain consistency in style, terminology, references, and formatting.

**🔍 Proofreading**

* Conduct thorough proofreading of layout files to ensure accuracy and compliance.
* Check formatting elements like headers, cross-references, callouts, and tables of contents.
* Compare amended proofs with previous versions to ensure all editorial corrections are integrated.

**🧩 Strategic Contributions**

* Enhance UNICEF’s advocacy efforts by developing high-quality content that drives policy change and resource mobilization.
* Improve donor confidence through strong reporting and visibility of programme impact.
* Contribute to a better-coordinated global response to child malnutrition.



**What We’re Looking For:**

✅ A degree in Journalism, Communications, Political Science, Social Sciences, or a related field
✅ Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in writing, editing, and proofreading English-language reports — experience with UN or multilateral agencies is an asset
✅ Proven ability to deliver on tight timelines with attention to detail
✅ Native-level fluency in English; knowledge of other UN languages or local languages is a plus
✅ Familiarity with humanitarian and development contexts is an added advantage
